Moving to Germany, Narrating Her First Flight August 18, 1969 Dear Mom, Right now it is about 7:00 German time, so now you are sleeping while here I am drifting through an ocean of clouds. This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful sights I've ever seen. David and Ty are sleeping beside me and Tommy and Dave are across and in front of us awake. I slept a couple of hours all scrunched up. I was thirsty and went to get a drink. One side of the plane, it was still dark but on the other side you could see daybreak just a little. It was so pretty as it kept getting lighter. As I look down, I feel so many different things, from being in a fairyland to being in the North Pole. Oh, Mom, I'm so excited. The land is more beautiful than the clouds, we're over Ireland or England and I can't believe it. It looks like someone cut the land up into a puzzle and put it together. Everything looks flat and is either a shade of green or pink. You can see where the ocean is. I can't believe it. It is one of the most exciting sights I've seen. I think the clouds are neat, I am ready to dive into those huge pillows. I want to sit on the wing and get a front row seat. I can't believe I'm actually flying over and through clouds. Oh Mother it is so pretty. I wish you were seeing it, I wish David and Ty were too instead of just sleeping. It's been a smooth flight. We're coming over land again, it must be France, guess I will close my cloudy letter as we will be landing soon. Love, Rae, Dave, and Boys
